LåPSLEY FALLING SHORT
Liverpudlian songwriter Låpsley made her mark at the turn of the year with a brace of skewed, chopped and screwed compositions; 'Station' and 'Painter (valentine)'. If those two startling works resembled intricate paper snowflake cut-outs, then her latest track, 'Falling Short', acts as crisp, refreshing breeze: shifting the seasons, heralding the end of a long, hot summer. Holly Fletcher is only just old enough to buy booze legally, and yet her knack for crafting statuesque electronic-pop packed with articulate lyrics and zingy hooks already far outstrips many of her more seasoned peers. Another hair-raisingly emotive slow-burner from the most unpredictably brilliant British talent around. - DC
